MICHAEL PSILAKIS

Executive Chef / Owner, Kefi, FISHTAG, MP Taverna

Chef Michael Psilakis has been lauded for both his traditional and reinterpreted Greek menus and is responsible for putting Modern Greek cuisine on the culinary map.

Psilakis has accrued many of the food world’s highest honors including Food & Wine’s Best New Chef, Chef of the Year from Bon Appetit and Esquire and a James Beard Award nomination for Best New Restaurant for Anthos, his modern Greek restaurant in New York City.

He now owns Kefi and FISHTAG—both located on the Upper West Side—and MP Taverna in Roslyn, NY, Irvington, NY, Astoria, NY and Williamsburg, NY. In June 2015, Psilakis will debut The Hall at MP, a hospitality-driven music venue and restaurant featuring both top musical performers and local talent, located in the same space as MP Taverna Brooklyn in Williamsburg.

Psilakis was the Co-Executive Producer and Co-Star of BBC AMERICA’s original adventure cooking competition series, No Kitchen Required, which premiered in April 2012. His first cookbook, How to Roast a Lamb, a culinary tribute to his Greek heritage has gone on to win countless awards including the Gourmand World Cookbook Award for Best Foreign Cuisine.

Psilakis will release his second cookbook in 2015, LIVE TO EAT, which will highlight the deliciousness and proven health benefits of the Mediterranean diet.

John Solo

John Solo began his acting career in the film Blackout which premiered at Tribeca Film Festival in 2007. It was produced by and starred Jeffrey Wright and Zoe Saldana. He then went on to numerous TV shows including, Law and Order, Law and Order SVU, FX Lights Out, ABC Forever, and Person of Interest. He appeared in films such as, Man on a Ledge and starred in Edward Burns’ Newlyweds and Fitzgerald Family Christmas. Newlyweds was highly regarded and the closing film at Tribeca 2013, and Fitzgerald Family Film premiered at Toronto Film Festival. Solo is currently also working with Edward Burns in his new TV show Public Morals. He produced his first feature film Love Magical which premiered in the HBO/BET Urbanworld Film Festival. Solo also owns and operates Grand Cafe and Ginger Organic Juice in Astoria which is a staple in the neighborhood for casual food and entertainment.
